Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI) is one of the country’s most respected non-stock, non-profit organizations with cultural and educational programs that benefit underprivileged Filipinos. AFI’s current thrusts are in education, environment, entrepreneurship, and art and culture.
2007 Highlights
- Led the launch of the Ayala Social Initiatives, which advocate the 3Es—education, environment and entrepreneurship
- Connected an additional 603 Philippine public high schools to the Internet through GILAS, bringing the total number of Internetconnected schools to 1,670
- Signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Sta. Isabel College (Manila) and St. Bridget’s College (Batangas) for the high school education of CENTEX graduates
- Recovered 2,000 tons of recyclable waste with an estimated value of P9.8 M in the Makati Central Business District through the Solid Waste Management program
- Mounted Chinese Diaspora: Art Streams from the Mainland, a collection of exhibitions on achievements of Chinese cultures in Southeast Asia
- Increased Filipiniana collection through the acquisition of 2,046 new materials, including a 575-book collection on World War II
- Held Tech Boot Camp for start-up enterprises in technology
Strategic Initiatives
- Enhance fund-raising campaigns in the U.S. and tap public and private corporations’ resources to support AFI’s projects
- Develop new and improved technology to effectively deliver learning resources in elementary subjects to public schools
- Develop innovative approaches to encourage stakeholder participation in solid waste management and recycling
- Use wireless technology to connect schools to the Internet in areas where traditional telecommunications is unavailable
